Yesterday, we had the privilege of participating in the 5th General Assembly of the hashtagSuPreAM project, hosted by the Luleรฅ tekniska universitet in Sweden.
This meeting marked the beginning of the final stage of a highly relevant European research initiative, bringing together all consortium partners to review the progress achieved so far and align the remaining activities leading up to the project’s completion in next December.

SuPreAM (PREdictive simulation of finishing operations in steel Additive Manufacturing for optimal SUrface integrity) project aims to develop advanced predictive simulation models capable of optimising finishing operations for additively manufactured steel components, improving surface integrity, reducing material waste, and enhancing industrial competitiveness.

Our team contributes its expertise in metal additive manufacturing (DMLS), precision machining, EDM, and steel component finishing, with a strong focus on tooling and mould-making applications. Through this work, we are helping to establish a deeper understanding of the relationship between additive manufacturing processes, machining parameters, surface integrity, and the functional performance of high-value industrial components.

Over the past months, the consortium has made significant progress in the numerical modelling of machining and EDM processes, surface integrity characterisation, demonstrator development, and predictive model validation.
SuPreAM highlights the importance of collaboration between industry, universities, and research centres in addressing the challenges of advanced manufacturing, fostering innovation through digitalisation, simulation technologies, and data-driven process optimisation.

The project is coordinated by Eurecat – Centro Tecnolรณgico and brings together a multidisciplinary consortium comprising ArcelorMittal, Grupo Sevilla Control (GSC), Luleรฅ tekniska universitet, CIMNE, IDONIAL Centro Tecnolรณgico and the ๐˜ฟ๐™๐™ ๐™‚๐™ง๐™ค๐™ช๐™ฅ.

A sincere thank you to the Luleรฅ tekniska universitet team for hosting this successful General Assembly and to all project partners for their continued commitment and collaboration.

As we enter the final stretch of the project, our focus remains on consolidating results, validating predictive models, and delivering innovative solutions that will support the future of additive manufacturing and advanced steel processing industries.
